Fly A Flag For Commonwealth

On Monday 14th March, school council members from years 5 and 6 represented Parsons Down at the Fly a Flag for Commonwealth Day at Thatcham Town Council offices. This was part of the Commonwealth Day celebrations. The children met the mayor and deputy mayor, learnt about the commonwealth and designed their own commonwealth flags, where they explored the themes of equality, fairness and diversity. At 10am they took part in an official ceremony, where they had to respond to the commonwealth affirmation and watched the mayor raise the flag. The school council representatives behaved respectfully throughout the morning and were a credit to Parsons Down Partnership.
