On Saturday 16th November, the Parsons Down Panthers and Penguins took part in the Thatcham Tornadoes Infant Schools Festival. The festival is designed to introduce the children to football in a fun and exciting way and encourage them to take up a sport and be more active.
Despite a wet and cold start to the day, the sun came out and the children enjoyed a full morning of football. Each team played 5 matches and it was fantastic to see their confidence grow as the morning went on. A headteacher from another school commented on how respectful Parsons Down were and one of the Tornadoes organisers told me how pleased they were to see us getting involved with the festival. The children were all awarded with a medal and water bottle to celebrate their involvement.
I am sure you will all appreciate how much work goes into ensuring our pupils can take part in events like these, so thank you to our PE leaders, Miss Nunn and Mrs. Hoskins, for organising our participation and again to Miss Nunn for giving up her Saturday to be there with me. Thank you also to the parents and children! If any parents are interested in volunteering at future events or helping coach our sports teams, please do get in touch with me via the school office.
