Handwashing Experiment

This week, Year 2 children in school have been learning how to wash their hands properly to keep themselves and others safe. They started by covering their hands with a special cream and looking at them under a UV light. The cream and the light helped them see areas of their hands where bacteria were growing.

Next they washed their hands in their usual way and looked at them under the light again. This time there were less bacteria but not everyone had washed their hands well enough!

Their teachers showed them the correct steps for handwashing and everyone had another go. This time, everyone’s hands were very clean! Thank you to West Berkshire Council for lending the equipment for the Year 2 bubbles to use. Our hands will be much cleaner from now on and we will be able to keep everyone a little bit safer.
