Mental Health Awareness Week - Being Kind

It is Mental Health Awareness Week next week and the theme this year is Kindness. Never has it been so important to show the people we love that we care about them and that, whether we can see them or not, we are there for them. Mental health issues can affect any one of us at any time but through compassion and understanding, we can help to ease suffering. Research shows that kindness and our mental health are deeply connected. Helping others is also good for our own mental health and wellbeing - reducing stress and improving emotional wellbeing.

During Mental Health Awareness Week, you could try the following three things:  

1. Reflect on an act of kindness. Share your stories and pictures of kindness during the week using #KindnessMatters and #MentalHealthAwarenessWeek.

2. Use the Mental Health Foundation resources in your family, school, workplace and community to join with thousands in practising acts of kindness to yourself and others during the week 

3. Share your ideas on how you think we could build a kinder society that would support our mental health using #KindnessMatters and #MentalHealthAwarenessWeek
