Following on from last week's busy schedule of football competitions, a team of U11 boys and girls represented Parsons Down in the Newbury schools football league.
They were drawn against tough opposition but started the competition brilliantly, with a 2-0 victory against Francis Baily, including an absolute net breaker from George D!! Really tidy football and strong work in the midfield saw us beating Speenhamland 3-0, with Alfie W netting his hattrick. Next up we faced our toughest opponents, John Rankin A, and the match lived up to all expectations with some end-to-end football and chances for both teams, however a brilliantly taken strike from Jacob D and a last-minute save from Miley A saw us achieve a 1-0 win! Our final match was tense, but once again the players dug deep and played out a 0-0 draw. That meant we finished TOP OF THE LEAGUE overall and will go on to play in the finals this December. Gooooooooooo Parsons Down!!!
