On Friday 6th October, both schools celebrated Harvest Festival. In the Infants the children thought about all the different foods that are harvested in the Autumn time and about all the things we have to be thankful for in our lives. At the Juniors, the children learnt about what ‘fair trade’ is, how it supports farmers and what we can do to help make the world a fairer place. We had a wonderful response to our request for food items, with overflowing tables of produce in both schools. These were boxed up and have been collected by the Trussell Trust, who will in turn, distribute them to families who need a bit of extra help at the moment. This is yet another example of how as a partnership we are ‘making a difference together’.
The total weight of the collection across the Partnership was 266.6kg which is the equivalent of 240 meals. Staff at the West Berks Food Bank have asked us to pass on their thanks to children, staff and parents for this fantastic donation.
