Medical Maths in KS2

February 5, 2018

On Friday 2nd February Shaw Class got a visit from a Doctor from the NHS, his name was Richard. One of the things he talked to us about was a word called BODMAS. BODMAS means: Brackets, Of (squared), Division, Multiplication, Addition, Subtraction.

We were taught how to use this word, while being part-time doctors, to calculate the correct amount of drugs to save a human life. The participants were: Erin, Ava, Harrison, Jack B, Nathan, William, Curtis and Jamie. We were taught how to convert mg, ml and l. It was very, very tricky but we got our heads around it in the end.

Our thanks go to Mrs Stirling who arranged the visit.
