Last week the GIST Road Safety team visited the Partnership and worked with children in Years 1, 3 and 6. They brought their lorry onto the playgrounds and taught us why it isn’t safe to cross in front of one of them. Did you know that once they put their brakes on the lorry will still travel another 25 metres before stopping? The lorries can weigh up to 44 tonnes with their trailers and the drivers have very poor visibility from their cabs.
We all got to climb in the cab of the lorry and experience what it is like to sit in the driver’s seat. It was a fantastic experience and we are hoping to make it an annual event.
