Last week the Junior School had a fabulous visit from the author Eamon Reilly. The children were captivated as he read extracts from his books. We sold 136 books and he donated 28 further books to our school library. At the end of his talk he set some writing challenges for the children. The School Council is running a writing competition based on these challenges. The closing date is Monday 10th December. Entries should be handed to your School Councillor. There will be prizes for each year group. Don’t forget Eamon’s top tip when planning - what is it in a mystery that my readers` will be desperate to find out? Just in case you have forgotten, the challenges are:
- Write a story about someone who has lost something really expensive or special.
- Make up a story with a heart-breaking dilemma or a nightmare decision.
- Write sentences about what you would most like in a best friend.
- If you were inspired by the ‘Look Out’ series describe your own den.
- Write a mystery story.
Don’t forget that you could get a chance to have your work displayed in the hall so do your very best. Entries can be handwritten or typed. Good Luck!
