On Thursday 5th October the eco-committee had their first meeting of the year. We reflected on what we would bring to the role of eco-councillor and created posters for the eco board. We’re excited that there is a school disco planned for November, but we’d like to think of an alternative for glow sticks. They are very popular but made from single use plastics. If you have any ideas for what could be sold at the disco instead, please let Miss Shepherd or Miss Hargood know.
At the infant school the children are given free fruit every breaktime. As an eco-school we like to recycle our food waste, but we have nearly run out of compostable caddy liners. Are you able to donate some to the school? Please drop them off at reception if you can.
We are really proud of our Harvest Festival donations, which have been weighed in at 163.8kgs. This means that Parson's Down have provided the equivalent of 343 meals for local residents who are desperately struggling. What a kind thing to do!
Each class has now completed this year’s Environmental Review and it is now time for the eco-committee to decide on this year’s topics. Our next meeting will be on Thursday 12th October and we will let you know after that what three topics we have chosen to focus on.
