"Back to Newbury for this month's Repair Cafe! Our skilled volunteers will do their best to repair your items. This helps reduce waste and prolong the life of things so you don't need to spend money to replace them. Enjoy a cuppa while you wait. Repairs are free, but donations are welcome to help fund our future events.
As usual, we are offering repairs of:
~Electrical and electronic items
~Clothing and textiles
~Ceramics and jewellery
~Small items of furniture and wooden objects
~Other general household and garden items
For all electricals and electronics: Please ensure that you bring any batteries, chargers, ancillary leads, power supplies, speakers, etc. to enable us to fully test the faulty item. For safety reasons, all mains-powered electrical items 𝗺𝘂𝘀𝘁 be PAT tested before any repair can take place, and again afterwards, even if the item has not been fixed.
Also available:
~Secateur, knife and scissor sharpening (a limit of 1 large or 2 small items, please)
~Mobile phone and IT advice/troubleshooting
Last items for repair must be checked in inside the hall 30 minutes before the end of the event (i.e., 4 p.m.). Sometimes there is exceptional demand for certain types of repairs (generally electrical goods), so there may be a long wait or we may have to ask you to come back the following month instead. We, as volunteers, try to offer the best service we can, but it's hard to estimate how long a repair will take.
If you’re wondering whether your item can be repaired, please email us at NewburyThatchamRepairCafe@gmail.com with the make and model if applicable, and what needs repairing.
Since our launch in February 2024, we have assessed over 800 items and saved 1600 kg from waste processing! Thank you for helping us to achieve this.
Looking forward to seeing you at Newbury Methodist Church Hall (RG14 1AN) on Sunday 30th March, 2–4:30 p.m." - Newbury and Thatcham Repair Cafe
