History
History is taught throughout the partnership using the Key Stage History scheme, which provides a structured, engaging and progressive approach to developing pupils’ knowledge and understanding of the past. Through a range of carefully planned topics, pupils explore significant events, people, periods and civilisations, developing a clear chronological understanding of local, British and world history. Lessons encourage children to investigate the past through the use of historical sources, photographs, maps and evidence, enabling them to develop important skills such as questioning, comparing, interpreting and evaluating. Pupils are encouraged to make connections between different historical periods and understand how the past has influenced the world in which we live today. As they progress through the school, children build a secure bank of historical knowledge while developing the skills, vocabulary and curiosity needed to think critically about the past and become confident young historians.
