Modern Foreign Language - French

French is taught throughout the partnership using the Grammarsaurus scheme, which provides a structured, progressive and engaging approach to developing pupils’ confidence and competence in a modern foreign language. Through carefully sequenced units, pupils develop their listening, speaking, reading and writing skills, while building a growing vocabulary and understanding of key French grammar and sentence structures. Lessons provide opportunities for children to practise pronunciation, participate in conversations, sing songs, play language games and apply new vocabulary in meaningful contexts. Pupils are also introduced to aspects of French culture and traditions, helping them to develop an appreciation of different countries and communities. As pupils progress through the school, they build on previously learned language, increasing their confidence and independence in communicating in French and developing the foundations for successful language learning at secondary school.

Learn together. Grow together. Succeed together.
