Music
Music is taught throughout the partnership using the Charanga scheme, which provides a progressive, engaging and inclusive approach to developing pupils’ musical knowledge, skills and confidence. Through a wide range of songs and musical activities, pupils develop their ability to listen and respond to music, sing, perform, compose and improvise. Lessons introduce children to a variety of musical genres, styles and traditions, helping them to develop an appreciation of music from different cultures and periods. Pupils have regular opportunities to explore rhythm, pulse, melody, dynamics, tempo and musical notation, as well as developing their skills on tuned and untuned instruments. As they progress through the school, children build on their musical understanding and vocabulary, develop increasing confidence in performing individually and as part of an ensemble, and learn to express themselves creatively through music.
