It's Time For No Mow May!

It's that time of year again. Say goodbye to your lawnmowers for (at least) a month. No Mow May is here!

At Parsons Down, we have dedicated areas in our school grounds that remain unmown during May and beyond - our roundabout, the back of the playing field and, of course, our wildflower meadow.

Allowing natural wildflowers (such as, dandelions, daisies and clover) to grow during the month of May provides a great boost to our pollinators.

Our Eco-Council would love it if our families could get involved in this worthy cause too. Could you let an area of your lawn grow wild for nature this month? Why not make a pledge to take part in No Mow May on the Plantlife website? They'll send you a free No Mow May Guide filled with top tips and tricks as well as the wildflowers and pollinators to keep an eye out for. The Seek app is also great for helping you identify plants and minibeasts.

Let us know how you get on via our Facebook page. We would love to see what flowers emerge in your lawn and which pollinators are attracted to them.
