Pupils have really enjoyed cooking Sausage & Bean hotpot this term and have been excited to take the ingredients home to re-create the same recipe!
Our next recipe is Tuna & Tomato pasta bake which, again, is budget friendly, easy to make and provides a good balance of vegetables, protein and carbohydrates. You can substitute the sweetcorn for fresh veggies or other tinned vegetables.
We would LOVE to see what children are making at home so please send any photos through to office@pdp.w-berks.sch.uk
If you’d like to try out this recipe, you can follow the instructions, below.
TUNA & TOMATO PASTA BAKE
One can/jar of the following:
Chopped tomatoes
Sweetcorn
Tuna
Dried pasta (one mug full per person)
How to make it
1. Put dried pasta in cold water, bring to the boil and simmer for 7-8 minutes.
2. Turn on oven to 180 degrees.
3. Tip the tuna, tomatoes and sweetcorn into a bowl and gently mix.
4. Season with black pepper and a pinch of salt.
5. Drain pasta then pour it into a baking dish.
6. Pour tuna and vegetable mix into the baking dish and gently combine with pasta. If you have any, sprinkle with grated cheese.
7. Carefully put into oven. Bake until cheese is golden and bubbling.
8. Tastes great served with a portion of peas, garnished with some fresh parsley (easy to grow or grab a bunch from the planters outside The Pod!)
